Boomer Parents Writing Submission Guidelines

Mission: To inform, inspire, and encourage busy first-time or once-again parents over 35.
The following areas are open for submissions:
Starting Out/Starting Again
Articles and interviews that focus on pregnancy, childbirth, and infant care for parents over 35. Topics may include infertility issues; midlife pregnancy concerns; handling doubts, fears, and concerns; pregnancy alternatives (such as surrogacy and adoption); baby equipment comparisons; choosing childcare. 750-1000 words.
Boomer Family Focus
Articles and essays that center on the family and relationships. Topics may include all-family activities; connecting with your kids and establishing strong, life-long bonds; bridging the (wide) generation gap; connecting and reconnecting with your parents; caring for aging parents; loving your kids’ world and introducing them to your interests; coming to or returning to spiritual faith because of children. 750-1000 words.
Career Track
Articles, essays, and interviews that focus on non-parenting work. Topics can may include managing or changing your career while caring for young children; work alternatives (part time, job sharing, telecommuting, cooperatives, entrepreneurialship; home businesses, and self employment); time and task management; pursuing other life-long dreams while raising your family. 750-1000 words.Ties That Bind
Articles that focus on recording and preserving family history and memories. Topics may include diary and journal keeping; genealogy; oral history and storytelling; establishing family traditions; memory and keepsake crafts. 500-1000 words.
Keeping Up Appearances
Articles and tips about staying healthy and in shape for life. Topics may include nutrition and dieting information specific to boomer parents; menopausal moms; maintaining energy; cosmetic surgery updates. 150-800 words.
Facing Forward Articles
and interviews that focus on financial and estate planning. Topics may include financial planning for college and retirement; investment alternatives; documents you should prepare (for example, wills and living trusts). 500-1000 words
Boomer Moments
Are you facing a Boomer Parent challenge, or did you survive one? Tell us about it. 50-150 words.
Book Reviews
Reviews of books that are of interest to over-35 parents. 250-350 words.
