I sell the greatest books on the market today through home shows,
direct sales, school & library sales, book fairs, and fundraisers,
to mention just a few of the options you have available. I have
the flexibility to try just about any idea I can dream up when
it comes to marketing the books.
How much time
is involved? Is this business kid and family friendly?
How? You can spend as much or as little time on
this business as you’d like. Your compensation is
based on the amount of time and effort you put into your
business. My 4 year old son loves the books and loves helping
any way he can with my business, his help consists mostly
of trying to find the books he has wandered off with from
my samples bag! The great thing about Usborne is that it
allows me the flexibility to work when I want and not work
when there are more important things to do such as spending
quality time with my little buddy.

What
do you like best about your business? The flexibility
combined with the quality of the books that make it
so easy to market them and feel proud to offer them
and the opportunity to other people. |
What’s
the hardest part about your business? Finding enough
time to do all the things that I am meaning to get to to
grow my business.
How much does
it cost initially? There is always a base kit for
$125 with 17 books and business supplies and there is a
different kit special every month – but it’s
usually under $50. If you purchase the special and reach
the Bronze level during your incentive period I refund
the price of your kit.
What is the
refund policy? There is a 30 day money back guarantee.

Ongoing
expenses? Catalogs (about $1 each) and other
minimal costs for supplies. All of these expenses
are tax write-offs.
Hostess
gifts? All free books and ½ price books
hostesses earn as a result of the total sales of
their show are all paid for by Usborne. You have
the opportunity to purchase and additional $25 in
books for $8.75 to offer the hostess as additional
incentives. |
How much commission
or compensation do you receive? Commissions vary
based on the event and range from 15-30%, plus bonuses.
If you are a Supervisor you also receive an additional
11% on your own sales and that of your downline.
How do you
advance to leadership? By promoting to Supervisor.
Promotion requirements include having 5 qualified Bronze
recruits in your downline and meeting sales requirements.

What
is a realistic show sales average or monthly sales
average? $400 per show – which is $100
in commission. Many people do 1-2 events per week.
You decide how many events you want to do based on
how much you would like to earn and how much time
you have to devote to your business.
Do you
keep your own inventory and make deliveries? You
don’t need to carry an inventory, it is entirely
up to you to decide if you wish to carry a substantial
inventory or not. The books can be shipped to the
hostess or the consultant, it is up to you to decide. |
What’s
the minimum requirement to stay active?There is
a minimum of $85 net during your incentive period (the
initial 12 weeks after you join Usborne). After that you
are only required to make one $25 purchase every 6 months
to remain active.
What skills
and experience are required? A love of books and
the children that read them, as well as the people who
read to them.
What kind
of training do you receive when joining? You will
receive excellent online training and support, as well
as email training and phone training. You will also have
access to the Consultants Only website which offers a wealth
of information on everything Usborne!

How are your
products or services sold? Can you sell online? Can
you advertise online? What are the restrictions for
selling? Our
products are sold through home shows, direct sales,
school & library sales, book fairs, fundraisers,
and any other way you can think of to try. You can
also purchase an Usborne website to sell online as
well as advertise online. Other options for advertising
include newspaper ads, magazines, and I even advertise
on the radio.

What else
would you like people to know about your business? This
is an amazing business. It gives me the opportunity to
do the things
that are most important to me. I can work around my family and
still make a living without feeling like I am making sacrifices.
I am getting the opportunity to stay home and see my son grow
up and nothing could mean more to me than that. I also have the
opportunity to share these wonderful books with children every
day. Kids love the books, they are easy to sell, and I make great
commissions. Usborne also gives me the opportunity to work with
a wonderful, supportive group of women and I have truly made
some lifelong friends working in this business!
