Bad Mood Mom and Other Good-Mood Songs
By Jamie Broza
Bad Mood Mom does a great job of encapsulating
life with children under seven. A series of songs convey the
unique perspectives
of
children at each age, while others focus more on the interactions
of family members.
My nine-year-old says Bad Mood Mom will help
grown-ups understand how kids feel. I think it reminds us moms
and dads that there
is
a humorous side to the stresses of family life. If your family
has ever taken a driving vacation, you'll definitely relate to "
Are We There Yet?" It was my twelve-year-old's favorite
song,
but she thinks adults will enjoy it even more than she did. My
four-year-old didn't grasp the CD's humor, but he loved it for
the music. Some tracks are upbeat, others are more mellow.
Overall, Bad Mood Mom has a very modern sound, seasoned with
a
number of ethnic influences.
Broza, the father of three, comes from a show
business family. His grandparents produced The Children's Hour
radio and TV show
for 30 years. Broza's father is the musical conductor for the
annual Tony Awards and Kennedy Center Honors programs, and Broza
scores special video segments for them each year. He has written
songs for Sesame Street and scored and orchestrated music for
The
Berenstain Bears TV show. He also produced Let's Dance for the
trio Sharon, Lois, and Bram. Broza has received four Emmy Awards
and a Clio Award for his compositions and arrangements, and Bad
Mood Mom won the Parents' Choice Gold Award
