Help Fight
Premature Births
Premature
birth is the leading cause of newborn death in
the first month of life, affecting 1,305 babies a
day in the United
States. Premature
births are on the rise -- up 27% since 1981. Many
who survive have lifelong health problems.
When you participate in WalkAmerica,
you're helping the March of Dimes fight a national crisis.
Today, 1 in 8 babies is born prematurely. Many die; others
face lifelong disability. The money you raise in WalkAmerica
supports March of Dimes research and programs to find answers
to what causes premature birth and what can be done to prevent
it. Until we have more answers, anyone's baby could be next.
Go to the March
of Dimes site and register to raise money
to fight premature babies, or take action to sponsor our friend,
CJ Marley through www.walkamerica.org/cjmarley.
You don't pay CJ, you pay directly to the March of Dimes.
Cj says, "On
May 1, I will be joining Walk America to raise funds to help
the March
of Dimes prevent premature births. I am an avid supporter
of the March
of Dimes because of their previous research into preventing
birth defects. I do not ask for a lot. If I could get each
person
I
contact to
sponsor me for only $10, I know that I can make a sizable contribution
to
the March of Dimes. Please
help me in the fight to help our babies!"
